A great way to monitor your home while you are away is an indoor security camera. An indoor security camera can be used to monitor your children and pets or provide some peace of mind by ensuring that no unwelcome visitors are detected. Many indoor security cameras can provide motion alerts, as well as two-way audio. Some are even capable of doing more.

The Eufy Security Indoor 2K Pan & Tilt Camera costs under $49.99. While it isn’t the most affordable option, it has an impressive list of features you would expect to pay much more for.

The video recording is up to 2K resolution with all the usual features, but it also has sound detection and person and pet detection. It also provides pan and tilt controls to allow for the camera to cover large rooms.

You can mount it on a wall, ceiling or on a shelf, as long as you have access to a power outlet. The Eufy Security Indoor 2K Pan & Tilt Camera can be connected directly to your WiFi router. You can insert a MicroSD Card to record video, or use a NAS. Eufy Cloud Storage is available for $3 per month or $30 per year.

2K HD Resolution

As the name suggests, the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K had a 2K HD resolution. This is twice the number of pixels and doubles the clarity of the 1080p HD industry standard. It captured videos that were rich in colors and vivid with high contrast.

The camera’s digital zoom of up to 8x in 2K HD was perfect. We could still see the details even when zoomed in. This allowed us to identify our pup’s food, even though he was only 12 feet from the camera. He grabbed a small piece of bread from the kitchen counter.

Large Viewing Angle

eufy 2k camera

The Eufy Indoor Cam 2K boasted a 125-degree viewing angle. We recommend that you view the camera at least 120 degrees. How wide can the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K monitor cover? It all depends on where you place it. It covered about 200 square feet of our living room.

Tip: If you have a larger monitor area, the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K can tilt and pan.

Night Vision

The eight infrared LED lighting of the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K made for great video quality day and night. They emitted an invisible infrared beam that illuminated our living area, but only the camera’s image sensor could see it.

The video was converted to black-and-white, but that’s still better than color night vision using a visible light source. Infrared cameras can be hidden and are less likely to get snuck into the hands of burglars. We want the camera to be able to see the face of the burglar in the event of a break-in.

Two-Way Audio

Two-way audio, another useful Indoor Cam 2K feature that we love in the event of a break-in scenario, is another. It allows us to speak through the camera’s speakers and say things like “Get out!” or, “We’re calling the police!”

The button to activate the two-way audio was placed conveniently on the app’s live view interface. This made it easy for us to access the feature. We never used it to get our pet off our couch, but knowing that the available feature gave us some peace of mind.

AI-Powered Human and Pet Detection

Tucker, our pet poodle, is always a joy to have around. However, Tucker is constantly getting false alarms from his camera. The artificial intelligence of the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K could distinguish between pets and people. It could tell us exactly if it had seen a person or a dog.

We had complete control over the notifications sent to our phones. We could turn off notifications for pets if we only wanted to receive alerts about people. The opposite was true if we wished to Tucker-related alerts. We can monitor our pets’ movements to keep them safe, even when we are away.

Smart Audio Detection

The artificial intelligence of the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K was also used to alert us to unusually loud sounds. It is specially trained to detect the sound of babies’ crying. The Eufy Indoor Cam 2K can also be used as a baby monitor by alerting us when it hears babies crying.

FYI: The support team at Eufy confirmed that the camera could be updated to detect barking dogs in the future. This would likely happen via an over-the-air firmware update.

Activity Zones

Another feature that improved the accuracy of the camera’s alerts was the activity zones. It basically limited the camera’s motion detection within the defined activity zones. The majority of burglars enter through windows and doors.

To help our camera focus its attention, we created a zone around the front door and one around our living room windows. We received an alert whenever the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K detected motion in those areas.

Customize Pet Commands

We loved the customizable pet commands as fur parents to our sometimes rowdy dogs. This feature was not available in the best pet camera reviews. The camera’s ability to detect pets and activity zones allowed us to attach a recording of us saying “Get off” to a specific zone. In our case, it was the couch. The recording was then played whenever Tucker climbed onto the couch.

Tucker was intrigued by our voice. We could see him looking through the camera, possibly wondering where we were. It also got him off of the couch.

Integrations with Smart Platforms

While the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K was a hit with pet owners, it also appealed to smart home enthusiasts. It integrates with all the principal voice assistants, including Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant.

These integrations allowed us to control the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K. We could watch the camera’s live feed on our Amazon Echo Show using Alexa. The Nest Hub Max was used to do the same, but we used the Google Assistant this time.

Finally, one month after purchasing the camera, Eufy sent firmware updates that activated HomeKit compatibility. The update enabled us to add the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K into our iPhone’s Home apps.

We could then view the live stream using Siri. HomeKit Secure Video, which also includes end-to-end encryption for our camera and 10 days of cloud storage space for videos, has also helped improve our camera’s privacy.

Recording Available 24/7

Security cameras typically record video in 20-second, motion-activated clips. This is when the camera detects movement and begins recording. Although you can adjust the clip duration, you won’t get continuous video footage.

The Eufy Indoor Cam 2k records in clip format by default. However, it also offers a 24/7 continuous recording option. To access 24/7 recording, you will need to choose the local storage option. However, there is no monthly subscription fee.

Mobile App

eufy Mobile AppĀ

The Eufy Security app is very user-friendly. It opens to view all cameras and shows a screenshot of the last recorded video. To jump to the live feed, tap on the camera and choose to either sleep for a certain period or review recorded videos or go into the settings.

The live feed will show you the camera view. You can tilt horizontally or pan horizontally by using the controls. Although the horizontal pan is limited in its movement, it can still provide a 360-degree view.

Vertical tilt is limited to 96 degrees so it is crucial that you place the camera correctly. The camera should be placed on a shelf or table that is not too high. Or, you can use the app to mount the camera to a ceiling and flip the view.

When you place the camera, calibrate it. The view was too high, so I clicked the calibration icon within the app. You have the usual options to record video, take screenshots, sound, alarm, and set a timer. You can also choose to use the 360-degree view option, automatic night vision, or hold the microphone icon to speak.

The settings of the Eufy Security Indoor 2K Pan and tilt camera are very customizable. The LED circle can be turned off at the front, the tilt speed can be adjusted, the motion detection sensitivity can also be changed, and activity zones can be defined. The automatic motion tracking feature allows the camera to pan and tilt to track a subject.

Motion detection is very accurate and can differentiate between people, pets, or general movement. You can also have alerts that are only triggered by people if desired.

A sound detection option is available with a sensitivity that can be triggered by any sound or a crying baby. This is an excellent option for parents new to the pet world. You can even set an activity zone to trigger an audio command that will be recorded by you when your pet enters that zone. This could be useful for keeping the dog from getting into bed.

If you connect a MicroSD card to your computer or connect a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, continuous recording is possible. Your own storage is required. The Eufy Security Indoor camera accepts MicroSD cards up to 128GB.

Cloud storage can be set up in the app. However, it costs $2.99 per camera per month or $29.99 per year. This includes 30 days of rolling video history. A Premier plan is available for up to 10 cameras for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year.

Eufy Indoor Cam 2K Installation

Eufy Indoor Cam 2K Installation

It takes approximately five minutes to set up the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K.

Installation of the Eufy Indoor Cam is easy. You’ll need to download the app and scan the QR code on your camera to adjust your settings. It’s that easy.

During testing, we didn’t experience any problems or glitches during installation. The Eufy mobile application also works very well. It was simple to set activity zones and adjust motion sensitivity.

Eufy’s online support is severely lacking. It offers a “support center”, which is essentially a place to get the quickstart guide. There are no helpful FAQs or community-submitted questions and answers. Eufy does not have a YouTube channel, but it is accessible on social media platforms like Twitter.

Eufy Indoor Cam 2K Pricing

The Eufy Indoor Cam can be purchased for a very affordable price.

We’d pay more for the Eufy Indoor Cam because of its high-quality video and other features. This little camera costs only $40, and you don’t need to pay a monthly storage charge.

A 1080p resolution version is a good option if you want to save some money. We think that $40 for Eufy 2K camera is a fair price for a high-quality device with plenty of local storage and hacker-proof.
